Cheap refurbished Kindle!!!!
There has been yet another price drop for the kindle. It is increasingly likely that there will be a new kindle introduced in August/September time frame. But if price has been the primary reason you have not purchased a kindle, then think seriously about getting one right now. The refurbished Kindle 2 (there are two versions of the Kindle 2, the AT&T kindle 2 and the Sprint Kindle 2, only difference is the network they use for wireless) is down to $109. I thought the $139 price of last week was as low as they would go, but I am wrong. It looks like $109 is the new refurbished price. And again I am going to say, it is unlikely that the Kindle 2 will go any lower. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. The refurbished kindles come from Amazon and come with a same as new warranty. (It looks like they are currently sold out. I will post again when there are more.)

What is the Gospel by Greg Gilbert -
This newest addition to the IXMarks series presents a clear, straightforward statement of the gospel, the third mark of a healthy church.
What is the gospel? It seems like a simple question, yet it has been known to incite some heated responses, even in the church. How are we to formulate a clear, biblical understanding of the gospel? Tradition, reason, and experience all leave us ultimately disappointed. If we want answers, we must turn to the Word of God.
Greg Gilbert does so in What Is the Gospel? Beginning with Paul’s systematic presentation of the gospel in Romans and moving through the sermons in Acts, Gilbert argues that the central structure of the gospel consists of four main subjects: God, man, Christ, and a response. The book carefully examines each and then explores the effects the gospel can have in individuals, churches, and the world. Both Christian and non-Christian readers will gain a clearer understanding of the gospel in this valuable resource.

Hour of the Hunter: A Novel of Suspense by J. A. Jance – The hunter is free to kill again — and hour by hour, he draws closer . . .
The brilliant psychopath Andrew Carlisle spent only six years in prison for the brutal torture–murder of a young girl of the Tohono O’otham tribe. The testimony of Diana Ladd — a teacher on the reservation — put Carlisle behind bars, and now she can’t ignore the dark, mystical signs that say a predator has returned to prowl the Arizona desert. Because no matter where Diana and her young son hide . . . he will find them.
A Nail Through the Heart by Timothy Hallinan – Travel writer Poke Rafferty was good at looking for trouble—so good that he made a little money writing a few offbeat travel guides for the young and terminally bored. But that was before Bangkok stole his heart. Now the expat American is happily playing family with Rose, the former go-go dancer he wants to marry, and with Miaow, the wary street child he wants to adopt. Yet just when everything is beginning to work out, trouble comes looking for Poke in the guise of good intentions. First he takes in Miaow’s friend, a troubled and terrifying street urchin named Superman. Then he agrees to find a distraught Aussie woman’s missing uncle—and accept an old woman’s generous payment to find a blackmailing theif. Soon, these three seemingly disparate events begin to overlap, pulling Poke deeper into dark, unfamiliar terrain. Gradually he realizes that he’s been gliding across the surface of a culture he really doesn’t understand—and that what he doesn’t know is about to hurt him and everyone he loves.

Was able to pick up a refurb one before they sold out. I'll be following these free suggestions very closely now. Thanks Adam!
I had to check out what the rumors were on the Kindle 3. Apparently thinner (?) and faster screen response. I'm ok with getting the kindle 2 for that price with a refresh like that around the corner.
My take on the state of the technology is that they will be putting
out a new kindle that is slightly better, but not nearly as big of a change as there was from the first to second generation kindle. I immediately upgraded from 1st to 2nd generation, but I would be really surprised if there was something in a third generation kindle that would make me want to upgrade.
