Review: Verso Prologue Cover

Verso Prologue coverThe Verso Prologue Cover for Amazon Kindle has changed my mind about using a cover. I have used this cover for nearly three months now.

What I do not traditionally like about using a cover with the kindle is that it usually doubles (or more) the weight and it does not fold back well so that it it is uncomfortable to hold one handed.

However, the Verso Prologue is amazingly light.  It looks like it should be a fairly heavy leather cover.  But it is not.  The inside of the cover has to be some type of hard foam.  It will flex slightly, but it withstands a good bit of abuse.

I don’t know what it is made of, but if the main point of a cover is to protect your kindle’s screen, the thickness and durability of this cover will do that.

The cover uses old school elastic to hold the kindle in place.  This makes it so that you can use the same cover for the Kindle 4, the Kindle Touch or the Kindle Paperwhite.  I am using it with the Kindle 4.

When I initially wrote up a review on Amazon I was concerned that the gold decoration on the cover would rub off.  It looks a bit cheap.  But after three months, it has not worn at all.

The same cover is also available on the Fire HD 8.9.  It is also available in several different designs.  The cover for the Kindle Fire (7 in) is out of stock but $15 cheaper than the cover for the eink Kindles and Kindle HD 8.9.

I really like this cover and at $25 (like the cost of one for the Fire) I would highly recommend it.  At $39.99, it is over priced.  But it is a good case.
