# 2012 Reading Priorities

I am mostly a ‘[Read by Whim](https://bookwi.se/reading-jacobs/)‘ reader.  But that does not mean that I do not make plans about what I want to read.  While I may change my mind, these are my plans over the next six months or so.

I have really enjoyed [my six months just reading Luke](https://bookwi.se/new-bible-reading-strategy/).   I have read about 8 books that have been directly or indirectly on the book of Luke.  When I finish up my current commentary I will be moving on to six months on John.  I am still looking for books, but I have already picked up (or had) [RC Sproul’s commentary on John](http://www.amazon.com/John-St-Andrews-Expositional-Commentary/dp/1567691854/), [The Historical Reliability of John’s Gospel by Craig Blomberg](http://www.amazon.com/Historical-Reliability-Johns-Gospel-Commentary/dp/0830838716/), [Metzger’s commentary When Love Comes to Town: The Gospel of John](http://www.amazon.com/Gospel-John-When-Comes-Resonate/dp/0830836411/) and NT Wright’s [two volume](http://www.amazon.com/John-Everyone-Chapters-11-21-Testament/dp/0664227902/) [John for Everyone](http://www.amazon.com/John-Everyone-Chapters-Tom-Wright/dp/0664227899/)

In 2011 I spend a lot of time reading about the Bible and Hermeneutics, in 2012 I am going to read more about the doctrine of the Trinity.  I have already picked up Karl Rahner’s [The Trinity](http://www.amazon.com/Trinity-Karl-Rahner/dp/0860120155/), [A Brief History of the Doctrine of the Trinity in the Early Church](http://www.amazon.com/Brief-History-Doctrine-Trinity-Church/dp/0567031934/) by Franz Dunzl and John Bowden, Donald McKim’s [Theological Turning Points: Major Issues in Christian Thought](http://www.amazon.com/Theological-Turning-Points-Christian-Thought/dp/080420702X/) (mostly on the Trinity), Philip Ryken’s [Our Triune God](http://www.amazon.com/Our-Triune-Three---One-ebook/dp/B004V9IFRG/) and Moltmann’s [The Trinity and the Kingdom](http://www.amazon.com/Trinity-Kingdom-ebook/dp/B001DITGPI/), and Fred Sander’s [The Deep Things of God: How the Trinity Changes Everything](http://www.amazon.com/Deep-Things-God-Everything-ebook/dp/B0041OTASE/).

The other things I would like to do are: 1) read more old books, especially fiction.  2) read more history of Christian thought and doctrine and 3) read more fiction in general.
