# Offsite: Sermonsmith

[![Sermonsmith](https://bookwi.se/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/screenshot_114.jpg)](http://sermonsmith.com/)Pastors [are readers](http://www.churchleaders.com/pastors/pastor-articles/167710-poll-studies-the-reading-habits-of-today-s-pastors.html).  Based on a Barna [research project](https://www.barna.org/barna-update/culture/617-reading-habits-in-a-digital-world) the digital world is also changing the way Christians read.

But within the church, the role of preaching communicating the truth of the gospel is still central.  So I am happy to recommend a new [podcast/blog](http://sermonsmith.com/) devoted to interviews with pastors focused solely on improving the craft of the sermon.

This is a project of John Chandler, a bivocational pastor in Austin, TX.  The podcast is bi-monthly and will focus on the average pastor’s workflow, tools and preparation (not the superstar pastor).

You can subscribe to the podcast [via itunes](https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/sermonsmith/id683846454?mt=2) or the [blog and podcast via RSS](http://sermonsmith.com/feed).

The first podcast is an [interview with JR Briggs](http://sermonsmith.com/j-r-briggs/) and you can just listen to the [podcast in your browser or download the individual file without subscribing](http://audio.srmn.co/2013/1-J.R._Briggs.mp3).
